– Announcing Development Squad Coach –

London, UK, 29th May 2015: Alameda o.n. Triathlon team is honoured to announce that world-renowned triathlon coach, Michelle Dillon, will be joining the team to take responsibility of our development squad.

“It excites me a lot to work with a team like this, and obviously to help development athletes,” said Michelle Dillon, who will take on the role of head coach for the development squad at Alameda o.n. Triathlon Team.

Dillon’s task is to make sure that the team’s development athletes are put on the right track in order to achieve the team’s original long-term objective of unearthing future world and Olympic champions in the sport of triathlon from within the Arab region.

“It’s an important role for the coach to be able to be there through the development period of the athlete to get them to that level,” said Dillon.

Regarding the support provided by the elite athletes on the team, Dillon believes it compliments her job as a coach for the development athletes. “I think all developing athletes have to have role models, … and I think the pro team will really provide that for the developing athletes.”

The team is currently in the process of creating a whole system with the Arab Triathlon Confederation, in order to make sure that the goals are aligned and that all the development athletes get the best possible support from everyone involved.

Hassan Afifi, team principal at Alameda o.n. Triathlon Team, said that “part of supporting the Arab Triathlon Confederation in its efforts to support athletes across the region to get them to world-class level, Alameda o.n. Triathlon Team, as a partner of the Arab Triathlon Confederation, needs to ensure that all elements are taken care of in the development of young talents. One of these elements is the all important part of coaching, which is why we have chosen someone whom we consider to be the best fit for the great task ahead, and this is Michelle Dillon.

“Michelle Dillon’s experience as a world-class triathlete herself, starting at a young age, and going up through the ranks to become an Olympian and world champion, then her expertise in developing talent from their beginnings to top international levels, are just what our young athletes need, and we have all the confidence in her abilities to get our young squad to achieve great things!”

Michelle – founder of Team Dillon – is a former World and European champion and two-time Olympian. After her successful career was cut short by back injury in 2008, Michelle turned her attention to helping others achieve their goals.

Winner of the 220 Triathlon Coach of the Year Award 2010, Michelle is now an Olympic Coach who works with all levels of athletes from beginners to high profile Elite athletes. Her current squad includes Olympian Stuart Hayes and Double British Champion Emma Pallant.

Michelle has also worked with top GB Triathletes Will Clarke,  Jodie Stimpson, Hollie Avil, Canadian Kathy Tremblay and NZ athlete Clark Ellice.

She has helped numerous triathletes realise their potential through her unique combination of energy and enthusiasm, coupled with the knowledge and experience of someone who has been coaching for as long as 20 years and competed at the highest level.
